World No Tobacco Day

According to the World Health Organization, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) kill 41 million people each year! This is equivalent to 74% of global deaths. Outcome data reflects global health disparities, with low and middle-income countries bearing the significant burden. 77% of NCD-related deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. As we approach World No Tobacco Day, this is a timely reminder that tobacco use is one of the risk factors for NCDs. Tobacco use and the effects of exposure to second-hand smoke result in over 8 million deaths every year. #internationalhealth #NCDs #tobacco #worldnotobaccoday
